Berkeley Castle

We met at Hurrans garden centre at 0800hrs - far too early for me as I need my beauty sleep. The day started out bright and very promising with only a few grey clouds. The journey was good with no motorways and a few winding roads.

When we arrived we were shown to a very good spot and all mucked in to put up the flags and the usual bunting. The morning was spent looking around the stalls, antiques, some car boot auto jumble and other stalls selling everything you could think about.

There was not a lot else going on so I had hoped to walk around the castle, but it was closed, I thought that was a bit silly as the number of people there would have made it a very profitable day for them at £7.50 a head and whilst I was going so were a lot more. It was a long day due to the early start and lack of activities going on, soon we settled in our chairs for lunch and to take the mick out of each other as usual, from Sandra drinking wine through a straw last week at Lorraine's Birthday party to Richards socks and shorts. Bez lost her crown of drunk of the month to Sandra, but quickly got it back after a few bottles of wine with Helen. Lynda had a glass in each hand and the noise coming out of the gazebo was like a hen house (still we needed the eggs).

Tony had fitted new side sills to his GT, Wayne fitted new number plate lights Richard's son drove Richard's finished re-built GT - although as he says himself, there is still more to do.

On and off the sun shone but with a strong chilly wind it was a bit cold and at 16.30hrs we decided to call it a day and got home. Well on the way home we followed Richard Jr., who with the aid of a sat-nav took us down lanes that I would not go down on a push bike, so narrow that I prayed nobody would come the other way. On the motorway Steve opened the GT up - I think he wanted to see what it could do, but eased off at 70 as he did not want to break the speed limit, I think. I don't know what happened to Keith in his MG YB 1947 - just took it slowly and treated the old girl with the respect it deserves.
