Stoneleigh MG Show and Spares Day
25th February 2007

Some 15 club members met bright and early on Sunday the 25th for a bus trip to Stoneleigh MG Show. The meeting point for the bus was arranged for the Teazer Pub, New Inn, but unfortunately the Secretary & Chairman couldn’t find it due to the painting out of the name on the outside of the pub –you could say a real “Teaser”.
Phil kept us amused on the journey with his notorious tales of the Welsh mines and political strong points which Angy enjoyed much to our interest. The four girls had the back seat on the bus which reminded us of the 1960’s song “You guessed it”.
On arriving at the show the famous four started with a well earned cup of coffee before setting off to search with our husbands for their “bits”. We made the cafeteria our base camp and every hour returned to catch up on gossip, although some of us stayed put whilst our husbands did the remainder of the last minute bargains. We met a few of the club members who had travelled up in their own cars; Roger & John who came in their MG ZS 180 and Dave
and his wife in their MGF with the hood down ‘mark you’. You can visualise the blond hair blowing in the breeze (not Dave’s - his wife’s I mean). We also saw Helen & Wayne looking for trim for the side of their MGB GT and Huw looking for bits for a friend. Young Mike, who travelled up with Roger & John in the MG ZS, bought himself a new gear knob for his roadster.
We returned to the bus for our return journey about 3.30 p.m. Most of the journey was spent comparing prices for items bought at the show, especially Richard who had paid (not disclosed) a little more than Barrie had paid for his bit of chrome pipe. Never mind, Richard was very proud of his new number plates and Phil with his “Bargain” two piece Chrome Bumpers, front and back for his Austin Healey Sprite - not to be called a Midget by the way.
