We met at the usual place Forge Lane at 9.00. To my surprise there were eight cars waiting for me to show up - I only expected there to be about three as it was forecast rain all day. The lead car was a new member who had a Ford Thunderbird 6'6" wide and 19' long.

The journey to Tonyrefail only took half an hour with no incidents on the way except we did something we have never done before and that was stop at a garage while a person got petrol - well with a car that only does 17 to the gallon on a run what can you expect. Yes, nine cars pulled into a small filling station while the Thunderbird got petrol. Eight of them drove straight back out again and waited at the side of the road - the people in the garage must have thought we had gone mad.

When we got to the site we were met by a man who explained that due to the very bad weather the show had to be cancelled. This we expected, but after so many people had turned up for our own show we felt it was wrong not to turn up for somebody else's, so to show our faces was a mark of respect.

Not to be outdone and at a loss as to what to do next we made our way to the Leisure centre. The car park was big enough to hold ours and other clubs with the same idea, so we found some tables overlooking the ten pin bowling and sat down for a good natter. One by one we parted for the journey home thinking it was not wasted as the fun is getting there and making our way back again.

The weather was a shame and I hope it will not put off the two new members who joined us, one in the T-Bird and the other in a MGB GT. On the way home we split up, some going back on the motorway and some going back through Porth except Phil, who got nearly into Porth and then went back to the motorway Just to be different.
