GWENT MG OWNERS CLUB

Llancaiach Fawr Manor
 Historic Transport Show
28th June 2009

We met at the Crown pub at 8.45 and after waiting a few minutes in case anybody else turned up four cars left for the journey to Llancaiach Fawr. The journey was easier to get to than the place is to say, so we were soon there.

When we lined up we were met by Lester and Adrian so that was another two cars. We were soon told that we lined up in the wrong place and that our club had its own spot with its own sign, so we quickly moved. The sign I thought was quite unique and well organised if not a little over the top.

There were quite a few cars on site, a bit of auto jumble, a room full of craft work, stalls selling toys and another selling soft toys. After we set our tables up the girls wanted to go to the local car boot at Gelli Gaer so Eric and Marie took them in his 6 seater Citroen which gave us lads a chance to ride on the free bus to the winding house museum at Tredegar. This was a really informative experience, watching the big wheel turn and listening to the speech on how many tonnes of coal it would bring up each shift. When we got back the girls were also back and Lynda had some toys for her grandson Matthew.

The rest of the day was spent talking to punters and looking at some amazing cars This is the first car show for this site and the nice weather during the day made it a great day and one which will develop as the time goes on. Lorri and Lynda wanted to go to the wheel house on the bus but being Lorri and Lynda got on the wrong bus and ended up at Caerphilly bus station - this gave us all a good laugh. Just before we left for home we were given a brass plaque it and then it started to rain, so there was a quick rush to put the hoods up and it rained until we got home.

Thank you for the good company and a great day out.
