Barry Festival of Transport

6th June 2010

Richard and self met at Asda, Coryton and after a few frantic calls from Tony F we joined the M4 and luckily spotted him, John and Francis & Beryl. The journey was going well until a Megane nipped in front of me at some lights and insisted on driving at 22mph on a 50mph road. Needless to say, as I was at the rear of our little convoy, soon lost the leaders. 10 ten minutes later Lorraine being a concerned Secretary looking out for us, phoned to see if we were ok and if we knew where to go. Sylvia reassured her and we continued on our journey alone, relying on my sat nav.

Arriving on site we were greeted by Brian Pop, but he too was all alone. We parked up next to Brian and some ten minutes later welcomed Richard with a round of applause as he decided to take a “scenic route” over an array of speed bumps. Yea, right.

There was a pretty good display of classic cars and quite a few coaches and buses on site, which making this, the 7th Festival of Transport to be held at Hood Road, a very successful event.

The weather was kind to us, though not exactly warm enough to have a paddle and on occasion was quite frosty.

Lorraine & Karen did an excellent job in recruiting “traders” to attend our Caldicot Show. A good day out with a laugh & no, I did not buy a pink dice for my Herald, It was a gift from an admirer who was most upset that I gave it to a good home who would appreciate it more than I. Thanks Beryl.
