Nine cars met at the Crown public house at 8-30am, and picked up Lester on the way to Tonyrefail Classic car show. The show was put on by Glamorgan Classic Car Club and a good job they did. The organising was first class and the Marshalls were very friendly.
This year's show also incorporated the Rhondda Valley County show. People from across Rhondda Cynon Taf competed in almost 150 show sections including open veg - with categories for onions, runner beans, shallots and peas - to open flower, open culinary - including
winberry pie, jams and cakes - home-made wine, art and photography. There were some of the largest vegetables I have seen.
It was not long before our Club gazebo was up and we could start looking around at all the cars. The children of the club went for a swim at the leisure centre and we walked around the show and stalls. There was not a great deal of auto jumble, but Phil managed to buy a badge holder that he had been looking for for a long time and
Brian pop also got a bargain, while the girls looked at other stalls like clothes and the like.
There was a small fun fair for the children and the weather was fair with the occasional shower but glad to say it never lasted long. Richard sorted out Lester’s timing and checked his plugs. The car ran better after that and looked better after its respray.
Soon it was time to pack up and make our way home. All in all it was a very good day with a great crowd. Looking forward to the next and final show of the season. |
