Under Milk Wood Road Run

19th June 2010

An early start was in order as I had promised to help out at the Bracelet Bay to Laugharne road run organised by Ashley.

After meeting up with Haydn we made our way to Swansea being on site around 0900hrs. A few cars and lorries were already at the car park and it was not too long that Haydn with his 1600 Vitesse, Adrian who we met up with in his Triumph TR6 and myself headed off on our run ahead of everyone else to help the Air Cadets at Laugharne. Our route of approx 40 miles took us mainly alongside the coast driving through some lovely countryside.

Arriving at the foreshore a while later we were greeted by the marshals and found that the 1998 West Cross Squadron Air Cadets had deployed and were doing an excellent job making us redundant.

Haydn seized the opportunity, as we were the only cars onsite and not expecting anyone for an hour, headed off for breakfast which included five donuts and an ice cream.

Back at our cars we set up camp for the day and watched up to 250 classics arrive, driving through the little ford before parking up. The day went well with fine weather, admiring some great cars and visiting Dylan Thomas’s Boat House.
