St. David's Foundation Road Run
5th October 2010
We all arrived at Newport Stadium about 9:30 onwards. Lots of cars and people and about 70-odd cars (including Triumphs!!). After registration and a quick coffee and bacon roll it was time for the off. Lots of people put their banners on their cars, one even around his neck. Someone tried to pull it tight but that's another tale.
First stop-off via Usk was Raglan Castle for a mug of soup and car line-up complete with bikes. Weather was gorgeous and almost as good as the car line up of Sunbeams, Rubies, Fords, Triumphs, Land Rovers, BMW and even the occasional MG!! The Heralds looked great as well as the Stags & Vitesses - you name it, they were all there in force.
Off to Chepstow through the centre then on to the Gardens at Dingestow to the last stop off. Back through Crick then Llanwern until we arrived back at the start.
Hot dogs and beefburgers were available and one greedy individual managed more than one!! No names but yes, Derek was there along with Sarah. We kept losing them as they kept stopping to relive their courting days. Sarah won a prize in the raffle and we even had an answer sheet to the quiz given us.
A Great day was had by all and it was made even better knowing we'd raised money for the fantastic cause - St. David's Foundation. The company was great, the weather was fantastic and the views - well all I can say is breathtaking. Please if we can do it, lets make it a club event for next year and lets smash the 100 car number!!! Next year the organisers are hoping to put postcodes on the instructions for us single entrants. Having said that the camaraderie of the
entrants was fantastic and if you took a wrong turn you just turned around and followed someone else in the line-up.
