GWENT MG OWNERS CLUB

Tredegar House Show

13th June 2010

Meeting time & place was on site for 0830hrs, wrong, some were parked up on Forge Lane who gave us a wave as we passed, and others were already in position on our stand. There was a pretty good turn out from the club but we were missing a few members one of which was Carl who is still recuperating after his illness. Once we were all together, the gazebo and BBQs were set up and it was time for a cuppa before hitting the auto jumble and seeing the array of classic, vintage and super sport cars on display.

There is definitely a “war” brewing amongst the club, first there was Phil with the bling, then Tony N seeing the light buying himself a Triumph and rechroming everything in sight. (Looking forward to seeing his new interior). Kingsley then joined the band wagon shedding his rubber bumpers for chrome, and finally me, who picked up some very nice but not as shiny poppers for my hood, increasing the Herald’s value by 15 pence.

The auto jumble was pretty good with a couple of stalls catering for the MG and Triumph owners, and one stall solely catering for Sylvie with more blimming Eeyores. Thanks a bunch John, another three to add to her collection. Roll on bonfire night.

As you all know, Geoff, reluctantly sold his first love recently, in order to accommodate Bryony, who is doing fabulously after her spinal operation and is outgrowing all of us. Unfortunately there was not anything suitable at today’s auction, but hopefully Geoff will find something more practical very soon. In all, a pretty good day out with fine weather - till the end where we got soaked trying to put up Tony F’s hood -  a good selection of vehicles, stalls and company. Our thoughts go out to Haydn & Carl and hope that they join us in the near future when they are ready.
