The show was set up at 1500hrs on the Saturday and some of
the foolish in the club stayed over night. The weather on
the day of the show started with a few showers, which must
have put some people off coming, but it was a good turnout
with about 120 cars.
The show was opened by the
Deputy Mayor Mr Cllr Anthony Easson. The public drifted in
slowly at first but got busier after lunch. The auto jumble
was there and seemed to be doing a good trade, as it was
always crowded when I looked. This year’s charity was the
British heart foundation (BHF) and there were some
representatives from the BHF with there own stall giving
advice and selling tee shirts. There were some amazing cars
at the show and everybody was very friendly.
The
winners of the best cars were as follows
1st
MGYA
MR. WILLIAMS
2nd
TALBOT
MR
B. CAMBELL 3rd
MGB
MR PHIL WILLIAMS
The castle was open so I managed to get a few photo from the top,
some from the Salsa dancers from the MiSalsa dance Company who put on two shows
and allowed the public to join in. It was like a kind of Cuban line dancing but
everybody had a good time, but the dancers were doing Bachata, Kizomba and a few
more.
We have not worked out how much we collected for the BHF but we
will let everybody know when it is sorted.
Fordthorne Cardiff brought the new MG6 and it was a good opportunity to have a
look at the car, I would like to see it on Top Gear. Our Ambulance crew joined
in the fun and one even had her face painted like a tiger. We would like to take
this opportunity to thank Barclays Bank, Unity Mine and all of our other
sponsors for their continuing support of our show.
It was good to see the
young children running around looking for the teddies that were hidden in our
find the teddy competition. The music at the show was a real highlight and the
DJ did a very good job making all the announcements. Lastly I would like to
thank everybody who turned out with there cars who made the show possible.
The total raised for the
BHF was £1400. A big thank you to everyone who participated.
