The show started for us on the Saturday
morning, we went to help the Jaguar club set out the field.
The weather was promising, yes it promised to rain all
weekend and it did.
Meeting at Forge Lane on the
Sunday morning at 8.00 the idea was to all go in together,
but there were spaces between cars as some of us turned up
late. This year the Gwent MG Owners club had a new spot but
we had already decided not to have a BBQ because it annoyed
too many clubs last year and we had no time to organise one
for this year.
The rain held off for a while which
gave us a time to put up the gazebo. Walking around the show
was hard as the mud was thick and there was a fear of
slipping over. More rain followed but it got better in the
afternoon. Some members even wiped their cars off, but they
never stayed dry for long. Children still used the bouncy
castles rides and other amusements that were at the show.
The auction went well and some of the cars were sold
- a Jag an Escort and a few more - all proceeds to leukaemia
research that’s the auctioneers cut that is. We were with
the Cardiff MG Club, the Bridgend MG club, and another MG
club; I think that is too many MGs in one area but it was
broken up because of the number of Triumphs, Fords and
others we have in our club. We were asked many questions
while we were sitting there. One club asked about our
gazebo, such things as how long it takes to put up, how
small it goes away and what weight it was, also questions
about the club and the cars it was good to be able to answer
a few of them.
4.00pm soon came and as this is the
last show of the year it was sad to say farewell to
everybody, but there is a chip run to Barry and a BBQ at
Tintern railway station soon (25th September, meet at the
venue at midday).
